It is with great sadness that the community mourns the passing of David Roberts, founder and Managing Director of D A Roberts, who died peacefully at home on Monday, 18th May 2026, at the age of 81.

David Roberts, widely known as Dave, was a respected businessman whose vision and unwavering commitment shaped D A Roberts into a trusted name within the fuel industry. Guided by a strong customer-first philosophy, he built the company from the ground up, prioritizing fairness, reliability, and community service. Alongside his son Paul and his late sons Nigel and Ian, Dave played a central role in growing the business into what it is today.

Throughout his lifetime, Dave employed countless local residents and provided essential fuel services to homes and businesses across the region, delivering millions of litres over the years. His dedication extended beyond business success—he was known for consistently striving to offer some of the most competitive forecourt fuel prices in the UK. This commitment to fairness and accessibility drew attention from media outlets and earned him the respect of customers and peers alike.

Those who knew Dave remember him for his loyalty, tireless work ethic, and genuine care for both his customers and employees. He fostered a sense of trust and community within his business, creating lasting relationships that extended far beyond professional interactions. Dave leaves behind his beloved wife, Pat, his family, and a dedicated team of staff who will continue to carry forward his legacy. His passing marks the end of an era, but the values he instilled—hard work, fairness, and commitment—will endure.

A funeral service to honor David Roberts’ life will be held on Thursday, 28th May at midday at St Alkmund’s Church. As a mark of respect, fuel delivery and garage workshop operations at D A Roberts will be closed on the day, while the forecourt will remain open.

David Roberts will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever respected for the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
